World’s best chocolate cake. Guaranteed.

Mmm. Chocolate. For years I have been trying different recipes in the pursuit of the world’s best chocolate cake. So imagine how pleased I was when I finally developed this recipe.

I have had this recipe in my head for while and a little voice has been saying, ‘Noooooo, keep this one secret … don’t tell anyone how to make it’. But I want to share this with you, so that you too can experience the ultimate in taste sensation.

This cake has all of the bases covered—it is chocolate, it is rich & moist, it is fabulous. The best thing about it, is that it’s vegan and totally cruelty free!

Ingredients Of World’s Best Chocolate Cake Recipe

The main ingredients of world’s best chocolate cake recipe are as follows:

  • 1 1/4 cups flour (I use 60% plain white & 40% wholemeal)
  • 1/2 cup sugar (can be substituted with honey)
  • 1/3 cup cocoa powder (I use 100% cocoa – dairy free, & fair trade)
  • 1 tsp bi carb
  • 1 cup water
  • 2 tsp coffee
  • 1 tsp vanilla essence
  • 1/3 cup vegetable oil (I use olive oil)
  • 1 tsp white vinegar (can be substituted with apple cider)
  • 1 tsp salt

Method:

Mix all ingredients into a bowl and fold until well combined. Grease or line with baking paper a cake tin (I use a rectangular baking tin that is 8 by 5 inches and 3 inches deep). Bake in oven for 20-25 min at 180 degrees.

When the cake is done, turn oven off and leave it in there while you prepare the world’s best glaze.

Ingredients of the world’s best glaze are as follows:

  • 1/2 cup sugar (I use 1/4 cup sugar, 1/4 cup honey)
  • 4 tbsp soy or oat milk
  • 4 tbsp butter (I use an olive spread – dairy free)
  • 2 tbsp cocoa powder
  • 2 tsp vanilla essence

Method:

Put all ingredients in a saucepan and stir, while it comes to a boil. Don’t worry if it bubbles, this is fine. Turn heat down to low and stir for a further 3 minutes. The glaze will look runny, but this will thicken up soon. You can pour the glaze and spread it all over the cake and let it cool for 30 minutes.

Or if you’re like me and you can’t wait, serve immediately whilst warm. Nothing like a moist, warm chocolate cake. Enjoy!

      You’re welcome Marryl! Once you’ve made this a couple of times it’s quite an easy recipe to remember. Word of caution though: You’ll be like me and be baking this ALL the time 🙂
